SELF LEVELING
Underlayments
Underlayments are a layer between a subfloor and a finished floor. The purpose of an underlayment is to fix imperfections and to stimulate adhesion and leveling, making the floor sturdier, smoother and more level before the installation of other floor coverings, such as carpet or tile.
Though it is mostly unseen, a professional, expert team must handle this operation, as carelessness or inadequate installation could lead to bubbling, cracking or pinholing, with the potential to show through surfaces above.
It is possible to install an underlayment over certain materials, such as plywood, which makes it a versatile flooring option. Underlayments are also a big part of the white box process.
Wear Surfaces
One of the services we offer is a “stain & seal”, which helps prevent damage and protects the beauty and shine of decorative concrete in high-traffic areas (vehicular or pedestrian) such as schools, department stores and warehouses. Our variety of sealers include polyaspartics, Richard James Specialty Chemicals, and polyurethanes.
Polyaspartics bond easily to almost any concrete surface, cure within half an hour, are flexible, can withstand high temperatures when cured, and have superior stain and UV resistance. Richard James Specialty Chemicals is a local company that develops high-performance aqueous coatings, colorants, cleansers and renewable finishes for concrete, customized products for specialty applications and unique liquid dyes for decorative installations in a wide range colors.
Polyurethanes are approximately twice as thick as acrylic sealers and provide a protective film that allows for excellent resistance to chemicals. They can be water- or solvent-based and are highly durable.
We also offer a “stain & polish”, which, unlike other options, allows the customer to decide on the color and reflectivity, or shine, of the floor. This is the way to go for someone who is looking for a more beauteous, lower traffic area, such as a building lobby or residential basement.
We have trained new crews, adapted new procedures, selected specific equipment and materials designed to achieve this work in the least amount of time at the lowest possible cost, and to deliver a quality product.
